Four candidates for Botim’s signature motion
The same three everyday moments — a list arriving, a bottom sheet opening, a toast landing — performed in four motion personalities. Replay each a few times; the demos auto-play once on load. The signature is whichever personality you’d still trust and enjoy at the hundredth encounter.
- □Still likable at the 100th use — or does it become noise?
- □Reads “trustworthy with money” even at a glance?
- □Survives RTL mirroring without losing its meaning?
- □Could a competitor have shipped it? If yes, it’s not a signature.
Connected Flow
One continuous gesture — everything arrives along a curve, overlapping, and nothing ever snaps. The pen doesn’t lift. Echoes Arabic calligraphy without quoting it.
- Physics
- Cubic-bezier 0.65/0/0.35/1 · 450–600ms · curved entry paths · overlapping stagger · zero bounce
- Notice
- Rows flow in like one drawn line and an ink stroke closes the list; the sheet’s content trails the sheet; the toast lands on a curve and underlines itself.
- RTL
- The entry curves mirror — the signature is literally directional, so RTL isn’t an edge case, it’s the thesis.
- Risk
- Longest durations of the four; needs discipline to not feel slow on repeat use.
Trust Settle
Fast arrival, hard deceleration, and a 1–2px landing dip — weight without bounce. Calm, heavy, certain. Money never springs.
- Physics
- Cubic-bezier 0.2/0.85/0.3/1 · 450–550ms · lands 1–2px past, settles back · zero overshoot upward
- Notice
- Rows drop and land with weight; the sheet decelerates hard and settles; the toast dips 2px past its resting point — like something real was set down.
- RTL
- Direction-neutral (vertical + weight) — survives mirroring untouched, but doesn’t tell the RTL story either.
- Risk
- The safest choice — and therefore the least ownable. Wise or Revolut could ship this tomorrow.
Detent
No easing theatre. Things appear at a fixed tick cadence or snap in one fast linear move, then lock with a tiny clunk. Machined, honest.
- Physics
- Linear only · 95ms tick cadence · 140ms snaps · 2px lock clunk · segments instead of fades
- Notice
- Rows print one per tick with a fill bar; the sheet snaps open and clunks; the toast appears instantly and ticks its own countdown.
- RTL
- Neutral mechanics; tick/progress direction flips with reading direction, rotation doesn’t — a clean, teachable rule.
- Risk
- Matches this site’s instrument aesthetic perfectly, but may read cold inside a consumer money app.
Pulse
ChosenAlive and social — soft springs with a visible touch of bounce, energy handed element to element, a single glow on arrival.
- Physics
- Springs 290–420 stiffness / 17–24 damping · relay staggers · one glow per arrival, never looping
- Notice
- Rows bounce in softly, relaying down the list; the sheet overshoots a few px and springs back; the toast pops and glows once.
- RTL
- Radial and scale-based — mostly direction-neutral; relay order flips with reading direction.
- Risk
- Friendliest, most alive — and least differentiated. Messengers pulse; fintechs that pulse can feel casual about money.
